As usual, things have been busy and I haven't been doing as much graphic art as I would like.
I did, however paint two pieces recently as a gift for a friend. We both share a love of the artist Patrick Nagel, so I decided to paint a portrait of her in his style. I actually ended up doing two of them, because I wasn't entirely happy with the first.
I did them in marker, spray paint and colored pencil on bristol board. Props to my friend Divulged for the technical advise on painting with spray paint. You can view them in my gallery.

As the lion's share of my graphic arts pursuits lately have been limited to creating graphics for my various musical projects, I finally made a gallery here on my DA page to display some of this stuff. It is in my Gallery under  "Music Poject Graphics".
The pieces vary from traditional artwork, photo manipulations, mainly stylized text, collages, etc. - whatever seems to suit the need.

On the music front, I have mostly been working on one of my side projects,  4TL4NTIS. It is more of a "hobby". I don't promote it or anything, I just do it because I am passionate about it.  4TL4NTIS is an all-hardware (synthesizers, drum machines & effects units, as opposed to using a computer), old-school techno / New wave / etc. project. It is, admittedly, not music for everyone. But if you think you might be into that sort of thing, you can check it out on either Bandcamp or SoundCloud.

Also, I recently created a Bandcamp site for my long-running (since the 90's) solo music project "When Machines Dream". The music of WMD has been featured in numerous video games, including In The Groove, Pump It Up Pro 1 & 2, ReRave & ReRave+, Snake 360 and more. I am adding more songs to the site regularly and all of them are available as a free download for the time being (as are the 4TL4NTIS songs, btw).

When Machines Dream Bandcamp: whenmachinesdream.bandcamp.com…
4TL4NTIS Bandcamp: 4tl4ntis.bandcamp.com/
4TL4NTIS SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/4tl4ntis

Anyway, that is essentially what's been up in my creative world as of late. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read / view my stuff here.

I am mainly writing this update because I feel pathetic that my last journal update was "Winter 2012"...

For the moment, my graphic arts pursuits have been limited to creating graphics for my various musical projects. (which is actually a pretty steady stream of artwork) I have been considering creating a gallery here on my DA page to display some of this stuff. In the meantime, you can check it out at the links below if you are so inclined. I still have a pile of art books and an even larger pile of art supplies just waiting for me to get some time to work on some things. I am looking forward to getting into them when things quiet down a bit with my musical projects.

I have also been working on writing. I have done all of the background / plot outlining / character development / etc. and am about 40 pages into a science fiction story that will probably end up in the novella word-count range. I think that I am going to make illustrations for it as well.

On the music front, Oscillator X, my main band, has been busy. Since I last wrote a jounal entry, we have released an 8 song EP, "Techno Pharoahs", and another single "Emotional Terrorist". You can check that all out here:

Oscillator X Bandcamp: oscillatorx.bandcamp.com/
Oscillator X Website: www.oscillatorx.com/

We have also been maintaining a fairly steady performance schedule throughout the Pacific Northwest this spring & summer, which keeps me busy with rehearsals & traveling, etc.

Additionally, I  have been working on another music project called 4TL4NTIS.

I was finally able to carve out enough time to get the remaining pages done on "Oscillator X: The Comic". This has been a relatively important hurdle as of late, due to the fact that I didn't feel like I should be starting any new art projects until I finish the remaining pages on this. Now that It is done, I finally feel like I can move on to some new stuff.
You can check out all three issues of the comic either in my DA gallery or on the dedicated site HERE: www.scirecordings.com/comix/
I am not sure if I am going to continue making the OSX comic or not. I have at least one more story in mind, but the time it takes me to do the comic is really pretty hard to justify right now and I think that I would rather concentrate on some other projects first. I guess we shall just see...

On the music front, I have been busy with my main musical endeavor, Oscillator X. We have been making a lot of new music and our performance schedule is booked into next year as well.
More on Oscillator X HERE: www.oscillatorx.com/

Though it has taken a back seat recently to Oscillator X, I am still very interested in pursuing my "other" musical project, 4TL4NTIS, and have a few songs in progress at the moment.
4TL4NTIS is an all-hardware (synthesizers, drum machines & effects units, as opposed to using a computer), old-school techno project that I have been working on for that last 8 months or so. It is, admittedly, not music for everyone (I'm really just making it for myself) But if you think you might be into that sort of thing, you can check it out on either Bandcamp or SoundCloud.

Things are finally looking like they are "picking up" on the art front.
As I had mentioned in my "Spring 2012 Update", I am looking forward to doing some mixed media art and have purchased several books & a ton of supplies to do so. That being said, I couldn't start anything new with a clear conscience, without finishing some things I have already started - mainly the current issue of the OSX comic.

So I am happy to say I have been working hard on it. Of the three remaining pages, one is done (and on here), the other is 3/4 of the way colored (and should be on here shortly) and the final page is just about ready to be inked.

Music, the endeavor that occupies the lion's share of my creative time, has been going pretty good.
Earlier this summer, my main band Oscillator X, performed a string of pretty high-profile shows and a television appearance, backing the dance / pop artist Jenna Drey. OSX has also had me holed up in the studio, working on some new material as well.
You can check out Oscillator X HERE: www.oscillatorx.com

My newest musical project, 4TL4NTIS has been a lot of fun, and fairly prolific, releasing 20 songs in the last 12 months.

4TL4NTIS SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/4tl4ntis

Worth noting, even though music tends to take me away from doing art, there is a heck of a lot of graphics involved in that side of things as well (which I do them for both projects). The Bandcamp link above diplays some of these graphics nicely.

Anyway, that is what I have been up to - thanks for looking/reading!

Things have been slow (but progressing) on the art front over the last several months, as I have been busy with music.

I have penciled, inked and scanned the final 3 pages of the current Oscillator X comic story, and am coloring/rendering/lettering them as time allows. I am probably going to have to eventually just drop everything else I am doing and just finish them to get it done.

I also have planned and purchased a ton of art supplies and several books to try a series of mixed media works, combining water color, colored pencils, markers, etc. and digital finishing. I am excited to get going on that as soon as time allows.

On the music front, Oscillator X has been busy - our latest single, "Singularity", has been doing quite well on the radio, licencing and some interesting places around the net. OSX has also been playing a string of high profile shows, which have been a blast.

You can check out "Singularity" HERE: oscillatorx.bandcamp.com/

I have also been pleased with how my latest music project, 4TL4NTIS, has been coming along. 4TL4NTIS is an all-hardware (synthesizers, drum machines & effects units, as opposed to using a computer), old-school techno project that I have been working on for that last 8 months or so. It is, admittedly, not music for everyone (I'm really just making it for myself) But if you think you might be into that sort of thing, you can check it out HERE: 4tl4ntis.bandcamp.com/

Anyway - that is what I have been up to. I hope to get some artwork going (and finished!) soon, and will post here when that happens...
